Guajardo & Marks, LLP is pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship for first-year law school students, which will be awarded at the beginning of the next academic year (August 2020).
This scholarship is designed to encourage and award creative authorship. Informing various audiences is part of the legal profession. The ability to clearly and accurately relay a message is crucial, whether it is addressed to a person inquiring about legal services, a client, a judge, or a jury.
Scholarship applicants must submit a sample of their writing which has previously been published in a newspaper, magazine, professional blog or academic publication. It is not necessary that the subject matter be related to the law; its primary purpose should be to inform readers.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.;
- Commencing law school (1L) in August 2020;
- Written an article which has been published (in print or digital media).
Applicants must submit the following by May 1, 2020:
- A completed Scholarship Application Form;
- Copy of law school acceptance letter;
- Copy of previously published article or link to its online location.
- Ability to clearly convey a complex message.
Guajardo & Marks, LLP Scholarship is a $1,000 award. We will notify the successful applicant by June 15, 2020. A check for $1,000 will be made payable to the applicable law school and mailed by August 1, 2020, to help defray the recipient’s tuition costs and other expenses. The recipient is expected to abide with current tax laws.
