Chevrolet Cruze, RVs and Travel Trailers among Recent Vehicle Recalls

- Vehicle Defects
Motor vehicle defects contribute to thousands of accidents each year, and just in time for Labor Day weekend vacations the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall of thousands of recreational vehicles (RVs) and travel trailers due to equipment problems that can increase the risk for crashes.
If you suffered severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident that may have been caused by a faulty vehicle or negligent driver, the personal injury attorneys at Guajardo & Marks are here to help you and your family through this difficult time. Please call us at (972) 774-9800 for your personal consultation with one of our experienced lawyers; we welcome clients from the greater Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, areas and nationwide.
Among the recalled RVs and travel trailers announced by the NHTSA are:
- 1,931 model year 2012-2014 Redwood recreational vehicles made by Crossroads RV; while in transit, shifting cargo may accidentally activate the power awning switch, causing the awning to unfurl and heighten the risk of a crash
- 129 model year 2014 Tradition, Mobile Suite, Mobile Suite Select and Elite Suite RVs and travel trailers made by DRV; the assembly screws in the power awning motor may shear, causing the awning to unfurl and increasing the risk of a crash or personal injury
- 125 model year 2013 Bison Coach Stratus, Stratus Express, Stratus Lite, Trail Express, Trail Hand and Traveler recreational trailers made by Navistar; the assembly screws in power awning motor may shear, causing the awning to unfurl and increasing the risk of an accident or injury
The week before Labor Day also saw the recall of 292,879 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles with the 2011-2012 model year. The affected Cruzes feature an electric vacuum pump intended to provide supplemental vacuum for braking assistance when needed; in the vehicles in question, the pump may not activate, requiring extra brake force or braking distance to stop the vehicles.
