Hyundai and its Kia Motors division recently recalled nearly 270,000 cars and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) due to motor vehicle defects that may increase the risk of car accidents and injuries.
According to the NHTSA, the Hyundai and Kia recalls include:
- 9,345 Kia Sorento SUVs with 2.4-liter engines from the 2014 model year; recalled due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the right-front axle shaft to shatter
- 239,000 Hyundai Azera and Sonata sedans from the 2006-2011 model years; recalled due to an issue with the rear control arms that allows road salt and water to enter and corrode the rear crossmembers, which can suddenly alter rear-wheel alignment
- 20,300 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs from the 2013 model year; recalled due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the right-front axle to break
Please visit the NHTSA recalls and defects page for detailed information on the specific vehicles affected by the recalls.
